Project Description

A quick, modern, template-based website.

Project Goals

To provide a fresh look and a modern web presence for a nonprofit whose previous website was built using web standards from the 1990s.

Challenges

This needed to be a quick, simple site with the ability to accept donations. The client didn’t have much to supply in terms of imagery and branding, which caused some minor creative challenges.

Creative Strategy

I selected fonts based on the client’s newly redesigned logo. The client provided a letterhead from which I pulled a color gradient, which I then incorporated into the headers of the site. I used that gradient to create a full color palette for the site. While the site began with a purchased template, these changes gave the site a unique look and feel that matches the organization.

Results

The final product’s distinct appearance has created a solid online identity for Choral Spectrum. This new, clean, modern WordPress site can be easily edited by the client—to make their latest concert information available, for example. The Donate page linking to PayPal provides audience members at concerts with an easier way to financially support the choir, which was a major goal of the site.

My Role

While I didn’t design the logo, I was responsible for every other aspect of the site’s appearance—from the favicon to the color scheme. I added all the requested content and worked with the client to get the Donate page functioning as desired. I ensured that the pages were working at various device sizes and assisted the client with the transition from the old site to the new one. I also provided additional support and guidance as questions arose.
