2024-08-15Project Description
Creating an ecommerce website to sell an innovative new product.
Project Goals
To create a website through which Mouse D-Fence products can be promoted and ordered.
Challenges
The product itself had been designed, but branding and marketing had to be done from scratch. I helped my client understand the various facets needed for the website and we collaborated to make the content, images, and messaging work. Squarespace, the client’s preferred platform, also introduced some design limitations.
Creative Strategy
I presented the client with several logo and color options, then provided the final files based on the client’s selection. Using the logo as a guide, I configured the Squarespace theme in line with best practices and the example sites my client had preferred. Colors and fonts were selected based on the logo and imagery, and icons were created to highlight the product’s main features. Custom code was also needed to improve the display of the website at certain screen sizes. Once the content was in place and properly styled, the ecommerce functionality had to be configured, including payments and shipping. After thorough testing, the website was deemed ready for launch.
Results
Working with Mary Schieferstein for our new website has been a pleasure. She did a fantastic job bringing our vision to life and she guided us seamlessly through the entire process and Mary always had time to answer all my questions. I also appreciated her attention to detail in every aspect of the design and I couldn’t be more pleased with our new website.
Mary is a true pleasure to work with and I would not hesitate to recommend her services.
– Barbara Krausher, Mouse D-Fence
The client has been very pleased with the design and functionality of the site. Ongoing SEO work has been done in partnership with VIB Marketing to help increase visibility and sales, and all the work in developing and optimizing the site is starting to pay off! This clean, mobile-friendly Squarespace site makes it incredibly easy for camper and RV owners to order a product that will protect them from rodent woes.
My Role
Aside from the photography, which the client provided, I was responsible for every aspect of the site. I created the logo, guided and finalized the color scheme, and even provided direction on what text and images would be most beneficial. I configured the ecommerce features and ensured the order process was working smoothly. After testing to ensure that the site was working well across browsers and devices, I made it live and submitted it to major search engines.
