Project Description

Updating an existing website to match the new design provided by the client.

Project Goals

To update the Teach 4 the Heart website with a clean, new, responsive (mobile-friendly) design.

Challenges

The site used a page builder I’d never worked with before, which required some learning. Also, because the live site was constantly being updated, it was impractical to use a staging site to develop the new design. The changes had to be made on the live site directly, applied at first to individual pages, which then replaced the existing pages one by one until the work was complete and the new design could be used throughout the site.

Creative Strategy

The client provided brand guidelines and Photoshop documents with the desired look and feel for the site. Most pages were laid out specifically, though as various page types developed and styles were solidified, I was able to apply existing styles to new content without further direction from the client up front.

Results

Mary did a tremendous job on our website. She is extremely knowledgeable and efficient. I love that she has a great eye for design but is also skilled at the technological side too. I highly recommend her!

The final product matched the provided design and newly established look and feel. Templates and guidelines allowed the client to make further edits to the site and create new pages and sections going forward. The new site has received a lot of compliments from users!

My Role

I implemented the designs provided by the client, using the page builder to create styles and templates and writing code to support some of the more specific needs. I tested the base design in multiple browsers and on multiple devices, making sure everything was compatible and worked responsively. When the testimonials weren’t displaying correctly, I installed and configured an alternative plugin. I created extensive documentation for site styles, maintenance, and content creation. I continue to provide miscellaneous technical and content support as needed.
